Outside the Window

What's the weather outside your window doing right now? If that's not inspiring, what's the weather like somewhere you wish you could be? From 365 Creative Writing Prompts to Inspire - thinkwritten.com (link is located in the first post)

I stopped to gaze out of a window at the retail store where I work and what I saw was this:

The sun laid a golden blanket along a vast parking lot peppered with a few vehicles of all different shape, size, and color. The pavement, long faded from time, was of a golden-bronze color speckled with pebbles. The vehicles had an added shimmer as they set waiting for their owners to return with newly acquired possessions.

A forest of trees lines the parking lot edge, along the exit, and down around the side of the building, like an arm resting on a table. The trees had a golden tint to their leaves, which stirred on occasion from a gentle, passing breeze. The sky was a bright pastel blue with a few tufts of clouds splotched willy-nilly throughout. There was a warm and inviting feel in the air tempting me to take a moment and relax in its golden glow.

As the evening started to draw near the golden blanket started to darken. The sky lost its pastel and an orange and purple hue began to form. The trees were almost a silhouette with a touch of green in the distance. It was a comforting signal to the approaching end of the day.

Welcome to Impromptu Scribe!

What is Impromptu Scribe? Impromptu Scribe is my own personal journal of written material based solely on writing prompts, hence the Impromptu. A silly play on words, I know.

In order to become better at anything, one needs to practice to either build or retain skill. That is exactly what I intend to do by means of this blog.

I have discovered quite a few places to find writing prompts and will be featuring my own work using the prompts from two sources.

Source 1: www.writersdigest.com/prompts - the prompts on this site change on a weekly basis providing new prompts throught the month.

source 2: thinkwritten.com/365-creative-writing-prompts/ - prompts for all different types of creative writing from poems, short stories, or other short writing projects.

The title of each post will include the title of the prompt or activity. A brief description of the activity or the prompt, followed by my own piece of writing based on the prompt will encompass the body of the post.

This is more for myself to get back in the habit of writing and boost my writing ability. If a prompt inspures you, feel free to give it a whirl.

Many thanks and happy writing, -The Impromptu Scribe
